3c3976ff2b imx: spl_imx_romapi.c: remove dead code
These IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_SPL_LOAD_FIT) cases can no longer be reached,
and thus get_fit_image_size() is also redundant.

4b4472438f imx: spl_imx_romapi: avoid tricky use of spl_load_simple_fit() to get full FIT size
Currently, spl_imx_romapi uses a somewhat tricky workaround for the
fact that a FIT image with external data doesn't directly allow one to
know the full size of the file: It does a dummy spl_load_simple_fit(),
having the ->read callback remember the largest offset requested, and
then does a last call to rom_api_download_image() to fetch the
remaining part of the full FIT image.

We can avoid that by just keeping track of how much we have downloaded
already, and if the ->read() requests something outside the current
valid buffer, fetch up to the end of the current request.

The current method also suffers from not working when CONFIG_IMX_HAB
is enabled: While in that case u-boot.itb is not built with external
data, so the fdt header does contain the full size of the dtb
structure. However, it does not account for the extra CONFIG_CSF_SIZE
added by board_spl_fit_size_align(). And also, the data it hands out
during the first dummy spl_load_simple_fit() is of course garbage, and
wouldn't pass the verification.

So we really need to call spl_load_simple_fit() only once, let that
figure out just how big the FIT image is (including whatever data, CSF
or "ordinary" external data, has been tacked on beyond the fdt
structure), and always provide valid data from the ->read callback.

This only affects the CONFIG_SPL_LOAD_FIT case - I don't have any
hardware or experience with the CONFIG_SPL_LOAD_IMX_CONTAINER case, so
I leave that alone for now.

f8001fdd2c imx8: use ROM API wrappers in spl_imx_romapi.c
Simplify the use of the ROM API by using the wrappers that take care
of saving/restoring gd and computing the xor value. This makes the

d072fdde53 ARM: imx: romapi: Repair FlexSPI NOR boot offset
The FlexSPI NOR boot offset does not require any special handling,
the image_offset is correct in either case (0x1000 for FlexSPI NOR
and 0x8000 for SD/eMMC) and the offset of u-boot.itb from the start
of flash.bin is always 0x58000 on MX8MN/MX8MP, which matches the
CONFIG_SYS_MMCSD_RAW_MODE_U_BOOT_SECTOR * 512 - 0x8000 in case
CONFIG_SYS_MMCSD_RAW_MODE_U_BOOT_SECTOR=0x300, which is always the
case on MX8MN/MX8MP.

The CONFIG_SYS_MMCSD_RAW_MODE_U_BOOT_SECTOR is really overloaded in
case of the MX8MN/MX8MP, but fixing that needs additional plumbing.

86c5e21013 ARM: make gd a function call for LTO and set via set_gd()
On ARM, the gd pointer is stored in registers r9 / x18. For this the
-ffixed-r9 / -ffixed-x18 flag is used when compiling, but using global
register variables causes errors when building with LTO, and these
errors are very difficult to overcome.

Richard Biener says [1]:
Note that global register vars shouldn't be used with LTO and if they
are restricted to just a few compilation units the recommended fix is
to build those CUs without -flto.

We cannot do this for U-Boot since all CUs use -ffixed-reg flag.

It seems that with LTO we could in fact store the gd pointer differently
and gain performance or size benefit by allowing the compiler to use
r9 / x18. But this would need more work.

So for now, when building with LTO, go the clang way, and instead of
declaring gd a global register variable, we make it a function call via
macro.

401d1c4f5d common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common header
Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In
a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding
another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header
files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few
cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so
remove that include.
