It slows down compilation and doesn't make any of our benchmarks go faster.
Assumed to be something that helped at an earlier point, but doesn't help now.
Add a benchmark with a more complicated regex to demonstrate the slowdown.

When the label name of a matcher contains non-standard characters, like
a dot, or starts with a digit, it should be quoted.
If it's not quoted, then `VectorSelector.String()` isn't a valid PromQL.

This creates a new `model` directory and moves all data-model related
packages over there:
exemplar labels relabel rulefmt textparse timestamp value
All the others are more or less utilities and have been moved to `util`:
gate logging modetimevfs pool runtime
