0b26b3866c MINOR: stats: pass the appctx flags to stats_fill_info()
Currently the stats filling function knows nothing about the caller's
needs, so let's pass the STAT_* flags so that it can adapt to the
requester's constraints.

2ec4e3c1ac BUG/MINOR: hlua: Don't strip last non-LWS char in hlua_pushstrippedstring()
hlua_pushstrippedstring() function strips leading and trailing LWS
characters. But the result length it too short by 1 byte. Thus the last
non-LWS character is stripped. Note that a string containing only LWS
characters resulting to a stipped string with an invalid length (-1). This
leads to a lua runtime error.

This bug was reported in the issue #1155. It must be backported as far as
1.7.

69beaa91d5 REORG: server: Export and rename some functions updating server info
Some static functions are now exported and renamed to follow the same
pattern of other exported functions. Here is the list :

 * update_server_fqdn: Renamed to srv_update_fqdn and exported
 * update_server_check_addr_port: renamed to srv_update_check_addr_port and exported
 * update_server_agent_addr_port: renamed to srv_update_agent_addr_port and exported
 * update_server_addr: renamed to srv_update_addr
 * update_server_addr_potr: renamed to srv_update_addr_port
 * srv_prepare_for_resolution: exported

This change is mandatory to move all functions dealing with the server-state
files in a separate file.

655e14ef17 MEDIUM: stats: allow to select one field in stats_fill_li_stats
prometheus approach requires to output all values for a given metric
name; meaning we iterate through all metrics, and then iterate in the
inner loop on all objects for this metric.
In order to allow more code reuse, adapt the stats API to be able to

From this patch it should be possible to add support for listen stats in

This patch follows what has already been done on frontend and backend
side.
From this patch it should be possible to remove most of the duplicate
code on prometheuse side for the server.

A few things to note though:
- state require prior calculation, so I moved that to a sort of helper
  `stats_fill_be_stats_computestate`.
- all ST_F*TIME fields requires some minor compute, so I moved it at te
  beginning of the function under a condition.

36979d9ad5 REORG: include: move the error reporting functions to from log.h to errors.h
Most of the files dealing with error reports have to include log.h in order
to access ha_alert(), ha_warning() etc. But while these functions don't
depend on anything, log.h depends on a lot of stuff because it deals with
log-formats and samples. As a result it's impossible not to embark long
dependencies when using ha_warning() or qfprintf().

This patch moves these low-level functions to errors.h, which already
defines the error codes used at the same places. About half of the users
of log.h could be adjusted, sometimes revealing other issues such as
missing tools.h. Interestingly the total preprocessed size shrunk by
4%.

a264d960f6 REORG: include: move proxy.h to haproxy/proxy{,-t}.h
This one is particularly difficult to split because it provides all the
functions used to manipulate a proxy state and to retrieve names or IDs
for error reporting, and as such, it was included in 73 files (down to
68 after cleanup). It would deserve a small cleanup though the cut points
are not obvious at the moment given the number of structs involved in
the struct proxy itself.

aeed4a85d6 REORG: include: move log.h to haproxy/log{,-t}.h
The current state of the logging is a real mess. The main problem is
that almost all files include log.h just in order to have access to
the alert/warning functions like ha_alert() etc, and don't care about
logs. But log.h also deals with real logging as well as log-format and
depends on stream.h and various other things. As such it forces a few
heavy files like stream.h to be loaded early and to hide missing
dependencies depending where it's loaded. Among the missing ones is
syslog.h which was often automatically included resulting in no less
than 3 users missing it.

Among 76 users, only 5 could be removed, and probably 70 don't need the
full set of dependencies.

A good approach would consist in splitting that file in 3 parts:
  - one for error output ("errors" ?).
  - one for log_format processing
  - and one for actual logging.

708c41602b MINOR: stats: replace the ST_* uri_auth flags with STAT_*
We used to rely on some config flags defined in uri_auth.h set during
parsing, and another set of STAT_* flags defined in stats.h set at run
time, with a somewhat gray area between the two sets. This is confusing
in the stats code as both are called "flags" in various functions and
it's quite hard to know which one describes what.

This patch cleans this up by replacing all ST_* by a newly assigned
value from the STAT_* set so that we can now use unified flags to
describe both the configuration and the current state. There is no
functional change at all.

Function regex_free() was modified so that it systematically frees the

argument (like free()). It will avoid existing risk of not properly
freeing the initialized area.

Other structures are also updated in order to be compatible (the ones
related to Lua and action rules).

1b8e68e89a MEDIUM: stick-table: Stop handling stick-tables as proxies.
This patch adds the support for the "table" line parsing in "peers" sections
to declare stick-table in such sections. This also prevents the user from having
to declare dummy backends sections with a unique stick-table inside.
Even if still supported, this usage will become deprecated.

To do so, the ->table member of proxy struct which is a stktable struct is replaced
by a pointer to a stktable struct allocated at parsing time in src/cfgparse-listen.c
for the dummy stick-table backends and in src/cfgparse.c for "peers" sections.
This has an impact on the code for stick-table sample converters and on the stickiness
rules parsers which first store the name of the dummy before resolving the rules.
This patch replaces proxy_tbl_by_name() calls by stktable_find_by_name() calls
to lookup for stick-tables stored in "stktable_by_name" ebtree at parsing time.
There is only one remaining place where proxy_tbl_by_name() is used: src/hlua.c.

At several places in the code we relied on the fact that ->size member of stick-table
was equal to zero to consider the stick-table was present by not configured,
this do not make sense anymore as ->table member of struct proxyis fow now on a pointer.
These tests are replaced by a test on ->table value itself.

In "peers" section we do not have to temporary store the name of the section the
stick-table are attached to because this name is obviously already known just after
having entered this "peers" section.

About the CLI stick-table I/O handler, the pointer to proxy struct is replaced by
a pointer to a stktable struct.

8878f8eb3d MEDIUM: lua: Add stick table support for Lua.
This ads support for accessing stick tables from Lua. The supported
operations are reading general table info, lookup by string/IP key, and
dumping the table.

Similar to "show table", a data filter is available during dump, and as
an improvement over "show table" it's possible to use up to 4 filter
expressions instead of just one (with implicit AND clause binding the
expressions). Dumping with/without filters can take a long time for
large tables, and should be used sparingly.

35b51c6e5b REORG: http: move the HTTP semantics definitions to http.h/http.c
It's a bit painful to have to deal with HTTP semantics for each protocol
version (H1 and H2), and working on the version-agnostic code further
emphasizes the problem.

This patch creates http.h and http.c which are agnostic to the version
in use, and which borrow a few parts from proto_http and from h1. For
example the once thought h1-specific h1_char_classes array is in fact
dictated by RFC7231 and is used to parse HTTP headers. A few changes
were made to a few files which were including proto_http.h while they
only needed http.h.

Certain string definitions pre-dated the introduction of indirect
strings (ist) so some were used to simplify the definition of the known
HTTP methods. The current lookup code saves 2 kB of a heavily used table
and is faster than the previous table based lookup (typ. 14 ns vs 16
before).

843b7cbe9d MEDIUM: chunks: make the chunk struct's fields match the buffer struct
Chunks are only a subset of a buffer (a non-wrapping version with no head
offset). Despite this we still carry a lot of duplicated code between
buffers and chunks. Replacing chunks with buffers would significantly
reduce the maintenance efforts. This first patch renames the chunk's
fields to match the name and types used by struct buffers, with the goal
of isolating the code changes from the declaration changes.

Most of the changes were made with spatch using this coccinelle script :

  @rule_d1@
  typedef chunk;
  struct chunk chunk;
  @@
  - chunk.str
  + chunk.area

  @rule_d2@

Some minor updates to 3 http functions had to be performed to take size_t
ints instead of ints in order to match the unsigned length here.

There's been multiple proxies in haproxy for quite some time, and "proxy"
is a potential source of bugs, a number of functions have a "proxy" argument,

"proxy" pointed to the currently parsed proxy, but we should probably not
rely on this.

The jmpbuf contains pointer on the stack memory address currently use
when the jmpbuf is set. So the information is local to each thread.

The struct field is too big to put it in the stack, but it is used
as buffer for retriving stats values. So, this buffer si local to each
threads. Each function using this buffer, use it whithout break (yield)
so, the consistency of local buffer is ensured.

9b82a588cd MINOR: lua: Add lists of frontends and backends
Adis Nezirovic reports:

   While playing with Lua API I've noticed that core.proxies attribute
   doesn't return all the proxies, more precisely the ones with same names
   (e.g. for frontend and backend with the same name it would only return
   the latter one).

So, this patch fixes this problem without breaking the actual behaviour.
We have two case of proxies with frontend/backend capabilities:

The first case is the listen. This case is not a problem because the
proxy object process these two entities as only one and it is the
expected behavior. With these case the "proxies" list works fine.

The second case is the frontend and backend with the same name. i think
that this case is possible for compatibility with 'listen' declaration.
These two proxes with same name and different capabilities must not
processed with the same object (different statitics, differents orders).
In fact, one the the two object crush the other one whoch is no longer
accessible.

To fix this problem, this patch adds two lists which are "frontends" and
"backends", each of these list contains specialized proxy, but warning
the "listen" proxy are declare in each list.

f2bbe38242 MINOR: lua: Add proxy as member of proxy object.
By Adis Nezirovic:

   This is just for convenience and uniformity, Proxy.servers/listeners
   returns a table/hash of objects with names as keys, but for example when
   I want to pass such object to some other Lua function I have to manually
   copy the name (or wrap the object), since the object itself doesn't
   expose name info.

This patch simply adds the proxy name as member of the proxy object.

abd9bb20b7 BUILD: lua: replace timegm() with my_timegm() to fix build on Solaris 10
Akhnin Nikita reported that Lua doesn't build on Solaris 10 because
the code uses timegm() to parse a date, which is not provided there.
The recommended way to implement timegm() is broken in the man page,
as it is based on a change of the TZ environment variable at run time
before calling the function (which is obviously not thread safe, and
terribly inefficient).

Here instead we rely on the new my_timegm() function, it should be
sufficient for all known use cases.

c95bad5013 MEDIUM: move listener->frontend to bind_conf->frontend
Historically, all listeners have a pointer to the frontend. But since
the introduction of SSL, we now have an intermediary layer called
bind_conf corresponding to a "bind" line. It makes no sense to have
the frontend on each listener given that it's the same for all
listeners belonging to a same bind_conf. Also certain parts like
SSL can only operate on bind_conf and need the frontend.

This patch fixes this by moving the frontend pointer from the listener
to the bind_conf. The extra indirection is quite cheap given and the
places were this is used are very scarce.

For tokenizing a string, standard Lua recommends to use regexes.

3c2f2f207f CLEANUP: remove unneeded casts
In C89, "void *" is automatically promoted to any pointer type. Casting
the result of malloc/calloc to the type of the LHS variable is therefore
unneeded.

Most of this patch was built using this Coccinelle patch:

@@
type T;
@@

- (T *)
  (\(lua_touserdata\|malloc\|calloc\|SSL_get_app_data\|hlua_checkudata\|lua_newuserdata\)(...))

@@
type T;
T *x;
void *data;
@@

  x =
- (T *)
  data

@@
type T;
T *x;
T *data;
@@

  x =
- (T *)
  data

Unfortunately, either Coccinelle or I is too limited to detect situation
where a complex RHS expression is of type "void *" and therefore casting
is not needed. Those cases were manually examined and corrected.

49d4842e98 BUG/MAJOR: lua: segfault using Concat object
Concat object is based on "luaL_Buffer". The luaL_Buffer documentation says:

   During its normal operation, a string buffer uses a variable number of stack
   slots. So, while using a buffer, you cannot assume that you know where the
   top of the stack is. You can use the stack between successive calls to buffer
   operations as long as that use is balanced; that is, when you call a buffer
   operation, the stack is at the same level it was immediately after the
   previous buffer operation. (The only exception to this rule is
   luaL_addvalue.) After calling luaL_pushresult the stack is back to its level
   when the buffer was initialized, plus the final string on its top.

So, the stack cannot be manipulated between the first call at the function
"luaL_buffinit()" and the last call to the function "luaL_pushresult()" because
we cannot known the stack status.

In other way, the memory used by these functions seems to be collected by GC, so
if the GC is triggered during the usage of the Concat object, it can be used
some released memory.

This patch rewrite the Concat class without the "luaL_Buffer" system. It uses
"userdata()" forr the memory allocation of the buffer strings.
