4136aba830 MEDIUM: tree-wide: fetches that may return IPV4+IPV6 now return ADDR
Historically, the ADDR pseudo-type did not exist. So when IPV6 support
was added to existing IPV4 sample fetches (e.g.: src,dst,hdr_ip...) the
expected out_type in related sample definitions was left on IPV4 because
it was required to declare the out_type as the lowest common denominator
(the type that can be casted into all other ones) to make compatibility
checks at parse time work properly.

However, now that ADDR pseudo-type may safely be used as out_type since
("MEDIUM: sample: add missing ADDR=>? compatibility matrix entries"), we
can use ADDR for fetches that may output both IPV4 and IPV6 at runtime.

One added benefit on top of making the code less confusing is that
'haproxy -dKsmp' output will now show "addr" instead of "ipv4" for such
fetches, so the 'haproxy -dKsmp' output better complies with the fetches
signatures from the documentation.

out_ip fetch, which returns an ip according to the doc, was purposely
left as is (returning IPV4) since the smp_fetch_url_ip() implementation
forces output type to IPV4 anyway, and since this is an historical fetch
I prefer not to touch it to prevent any regression. However if
smp_fetch_url_ip() were to be fixed to also return IPV6 in the future,
then its expected out_type may be changed to ADDR as well.

Multiple notes in the code were updated to mention that the appropriate
pseudo-type may be used instead of the lowest common denominator for
out_type when available.

ca5309a9a3 MINOR: stconn: Add a flag to report EOS at the stream-connector level
SC_FL_EOS flag is added to report the end-of-stream at the SC level. It will
be used to distinguish end of stream reported by the endoint, via the
SE_FL_EOS flag, and the abort triggered by the stream, via the
SC_FL_ABRT_DONE flag.

In this patch, the flag is defined and is systematically tested everywhere
SC_FL_ABRT_DONE is tested. It should be safe because it is never set.

0c370eee6d MINOR: stconn: Rename SC_FL_SHUTR in SC_FL_ABRT_DONE
Here again, it is just a flag renaming. In SC flags, there is no longer
shutdown for reads but aborts. For now this flag is set when a read0 is
detected. It is of couse not accurate. This will be changed later.

87633c3a11 MEDIUM: tree-wide: Move flags about shut from the channel to the SC
The purpose of this patch is only a one-to-one replacement, as far as
possible.

CF_SHUTR(_NOW) and CF_SHUTW(_NOW) flags are now carried by the
stream-connecter. CF_ prefix is replaced by SC_FL_ one. Of course, it is not
so simple because at many places, we were testing if a channel was shut for
reads and writes in same time. To do the same, shut for reads must be tested
on one side on the SC and shut for writes on the other side on the opposite
SC. A special care was taken with process_stream(). flags of SCs must be
saved to be able to detect changes, just like for the channels.

28c5f40ad6 MINOR: http_fetch: Add case-insensitive argument for url_param/urlp_val
This commit adds a new optional argument to smp_fetch_url_param
and smp_fetch_url_param_val that makes the parameter key comparison
case-insensitive.
Now users can retrieve URL parameters regardless of their case,
allowing to match parameters in case insensitive application.
Doc was updated.

2e47e3a1cf MINOR: htx: Add an HTX value for the extra field is payload length is unknown
When the payload length cannot be determined, the htx extra field is set to
the magical vlaue ULLONG_MAX. It is not obvious. This a dedicated HTX value
is now used. Now, HTX_UNKOWN_PAYLOAD_LENGTH must be used in this case,
instead of ULLONG_MAX.

5aab0a30c5 BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Don't block HTTP sample fetch eval in HTTP_MSG_ERROR state
It was inherited from the legacy HTTP mode, but the message parsing is
handled by the underlying mux now. Thus, if a message is in HTTP_MSG_ERROR
state, it is just an analysis error and not a parsing error. So there is no
reason to block the HTTP sample fetch evaluation in this case.

This patch could be backported in all stable versions (For the 2.0, only the
htx part must be updated).

31850b470a BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Only fill txn status during prefetch if not already set
When an HTTP sample fetch is evaluated, a prefetch is performed to check the
channel contains a valid HTTP message. If the HTTP analysis was not already
started, some info are filled.

It may be an issue when an error is returned before the response analysis
and when http-after-response rules are used because the original HTTP txn
status may be crushed. For instance, with the following configuration:

  listen l1
    log global
    mode http
    bind :8000

    log-format ST=%ST
    http-after-response set-status 400
    #http-after-response set-var(res.foo) status

A "ST=503" is reported in the log messages, independantly on the first
http-after-response rule. The same must happen if the second rule is
uncommented. However, for now, a "ST=400" is logged.

To fix the bug, during the prefetch, the HTTP txn status is only set if it
is undefined (-1). This way, we are sure the original one is never lost.

This patch should be backported as far as 2.2.

Gcc 4.x, 5.x and 6.x report this when compiling http_fetch.c:

  src/http_fetch.c:357:6: warning: 'htx' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
     sl = http_get_stline(htx);

That's quite weird since there's no such code path, but presetting the
htx variable to NULL during declaration is enough to shut it up.

This may be backported to any version that has dbbdb25f1 ("BUG/MINOR:
http-fetch: Use integer value when possible in "method" sample fetch")
as it's the one that triggered this warning (hence at least 2.0).

eefcd8a97d BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Update method after a prefetch in smp_fetch_meth()
In smp_fetch_meth(), smp_prefetch_htx() function may be called to parse the
HTX message and update the HTTP transaction accordingly. In this case, in
smp_fetch_metch() and on success, we must update "meth" variable. Otherwise,
the variable is still equal to HTTP_METH_OTHER and the string version is
always used instead of the enum for known methods.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.0.

a88e8bf428 BUILD: http: silence an uninitialized warning affecting gcc-5
When building with gcc-5, one can see this warning:

  src/http_fetch.c: In function 'smp_fetch_meth':
  src/http_fetch.c:356:6: warning: 'htx' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
     sl = http_get_stline(htx);
        ^

It's wrong since the only way to reach this code is to have met the
same condition a few lines before and initialized the htx variable.
The reason in fact is that the same test happens on different variables
of distinct types, so the compiler possibly doesn't know that the
condition is the same. Newer gcc versions do not have this problem.
Let's just move the assignment earlier and have the exact same test,
as it's sufficient to shut this up. This may have to be backported
to 2.6 since the code is the same there.

The "method" sample fetch does not perform any check on the stream existence
before using it. However, for errors triggered at the mux level, there is no
stream. When the log message is formatted, this sample fetch must fail. It
must also fail when it is called from a health-check.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.4.

dbbdb25f1c BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Use integer value when possible in "method" sample fetch
Because of the previous fix, if the HTTP parsing is performed when the
"method" sample fetch is called, we always rely on the string representation
of the request method.

Indeed, if no parsing was performed when the "method" sample fetch is
called, the transaction method is HTTP_METH_OTHER because it was just
initialized. However, without this patch, in this case, we always retrieve
the method by reading the request start-line.

Now, when the method is HTTP_METH_OTHER, we systematically try to parse the
request but the method is tested once again after the parsing to be able to
use the integer representation when possible.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.0.

This file contains all the stream-connector functions that are specific
to application layers of type stream. So let's name it accordingly so
that it's easier to figure what's located there.

The alphabetical ordering of include files was preserved.

The source and destination addresses at the applicative layer are moved from
the stream-interface to the conn-stream. This simplifies a bit the code and
it is a logicial step to remove the stream-interface.

7750850594 CLEANUP: Reapply ist.cocci with --include-headers-for-types --recursive-includes
Previous uses of `ist.cocci` did not add `--include-headers-for-types` and
`--recursive-includes` preventing Coccinelle seeing `struct ist` members of
other structs.

Reapply the patch with proper flags to further clean up the use of the ist API.

The command used was:

    spatch -sp_file dev/coccinelle/ist.cocci -in_place --include-headers --include-headers-for-types --recursive-includes --dir src/

cda94accb1 MAJOR: stream/conn_stream: Move the stream-interface into the conn-stream
Thanks to all previous changes, it is now possible to move the
stream-interface into the conn-stream. To do so, some SI functions are
removed and their conn-stream counterparts are added. In addition, the
conn-stream is now responsible to create and release the
stream-interface. While the stream-interfaces were inlined in the stream
structure, there is now a pointer in the conn-stream. stream-interfaces are
now dynamically allocated. Thus a dedicated pool is added. It is a temporary
change because, at the end, the stream-interface structure will most
probably disappear.

7da35bff9f BUG/MINOR: http: http_auth_bearer fetch does not work on custom header name
The http_auth_bearer sample fetch can take a header name as parameter,
in which case it will try to extract a Bearer value out of the given
header name instead of the default "Authorization" one. In this case,
the extraction would not have worked because of a misuse of strncasecmp.
This patch fixes this by replacing the standard string functions by ist
ones.
It also properly manages the multiple spaces that could be found between
the scheme and its value.

No backport needed, that's part of JWT which is only in 2.5.

As per RFC7235, there can be multiple spaces in the value of an
Authorization header, between the scheme and the actual authentication
parameters.

This can be backported to all stable versions since basic auth has almost

6fc817a28e MINOR: http-fetch: Rely on addresses at stream level in HTTP sample fetches
Client source and destination addresses at stream level are now used to
compute base32+src and url32+src hashes. For now, stream-interface addresses
are never set. So, thanks to the fallback mechanism, no changes are expected
with this patch. But its purpose is to rely on addresses at the stream
level, when set, instead of those at the connection level.

Replace http_get_path by the http_uri_parser API. The new functions is
renamed http_parse_path. Replace duplicated code for scheme and
authority parsing by invocations to http_parse_scheme/authority.

If no scheme is found for an URI detected as an absolute-uri/authority,
consider it to be an authority format : no path will be found. For an
absolute-uri or absolute-path, use the remaining of the string as the
path. A new http_uri_parser state is declared to mark the path parsing
as done.

This one was marked as deprecated 9 years ago by commit 28376d62c

released version. Let's remove it now.

c89d5337ee BUG/MINOR: http_fetch: fix possible uninit sockaddr in fetch_url_ip/port
Check the return value of url2sa in smp_fetch_url_ip/port. If negative,
the address result is uninitialized and the sample fetch is aborted.
Also, the sockaddr is prelimiary zero'ed before calling url2sa to ensure
that it is not used by upper functions even if the sample returns 0.

Without the check, the value returned by the url_ip/url_port fetches is
unspecified. This can be triggered with the following curl :
$ curl -iv --request-target "xxx://127.0.0.1:20080/" http://127.0.0.1:20080/

This should be backported to all stable branches. However, note that
between the 1.8 and 2.0, the targetted functions have been extracted
from proto_http.c to http_fetch.c.

This should fix in part coverity report from the github issue #1244.

48584645fb BUILD: http_fetch: address a few aliasing warnings with older compilers
gcc-4.4 complains about aliasing in smp_fetch_url_port() and
smp_fetch_url_ip() because the local addr variable is casted to sturct
sockaddr_in before being checked. The family should be checked on the
sockaddr_storage and we have a function to retrieve the port.
The compiler still sees some warnings but these ones are OK now.

6f97a611c8 BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Make method smp safe if headers were already forwarded
When method sample fetch is called, if an exotic method is found
(HTTP_METH_OTHER), when smp_prefetch_htx() is called, we must be sure the
start-line is still there. Otherwise, HAproxy may crash because of a NULL
pointer dereference, for instance if the method sample fetch is used inside
a unique-id format string. Indeed, the unique id may be generated when the
log message is emitted. At this stage, the request channel is empty.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.0. But the bug exists in all
stable versions for the legacy HTTP mode too. Thus it must be adapted to the
legacy HTTP mode and backported to all other stable versions.

A bug was introduced when the legacy HTTP mode was removed. To capture the
HTTP version of the request or the response, we rely on the message state to
be sure the status line was received. However, the test is inverted. The
version can be captured if message headers were received, not the opposite.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.2.

75f619ad92 MINOR: http-ana: Simplify creation/destruction of HTTP transactions
Now allocation and initialization of HTTP transactions are performed in a
unique function. Historically, there were two functions because the same TXN
was reset for K/A connections in the legacy HTTP mode. Now, in HTX, K/A
connections are handled at the mux level. A new stream, and thus a new TXN,
is created for each request. In addition, the function responsible to end
the TXN is now also reponsible to release it.

So, now, http_create_txn() and http_destroy_txn() must be used to create and
destroy an HTTP transaction.

645dc08533 BUG/MINOR: http_fetch: make hdr_ip() resistant to empty fields
The fix in commit 7b0e00d94 ("BUG/MINOR: http_fetch: make hdr_ip() reject
trailing characters") made hdr_ip() more sensitive to empty fields, for
example if a trusted proxy incorrectly sends the header with an empty
value, we could return 0.0.0.0 which is not correct. Let's make sure we
only assign an IPv4 type here when a non-empty address was found.

This should be backported to all branches where the fix above was
backported.

7b0e00d943 BUG/MINOR: http_fetch: make hdr_ip() reject trailing characters
The hdr_ip() sample fetch function will try to extract IP addresses
from a header field. These IP addresses are parsed using url2ipv4()
and if it fails it will fall back to inet_pton(AF_INET6), otherwise
will fail.

There is a small problem there which is that if a field starts with
an IP address and is immediately followed by some garbage, the IP
address part is still returned. This is a problem with fields such
as x-forwarded-for because it prevents detection of accidental
corruption or bug along the chain. For example, the following string:

   x-forwarded-for: 1.2.3.4; 5.6.7.8

or this one:

   x-forwarded-for: 1.2.3.4O    ( the last one being the letter 'O')

would still return "1.2.3.4" despite the trailing characters. This is
bad because it will silently cover broken code running on intermediary
proxies and may even in some cases allow haproxy to pass improperly
formatted headers after they were apparently validated, for example,
if someone extracts the address from this field to place it into
another one.

This issue would only affect the IPv4 parser, because the IPv6 parser
already uses inet_pton() which fails at the first invalid character and
rejects trailing port numbers.

In strict compliance with RFC7239, let's make sure that if there are any
characters left in the string, the parsing fails and makes hdr_ip()
return nothing. However, a special case has to be handled to support
IPv4 addresses followed by a colon and a valid port number, because till
now the parser used to implicitly accept them and it appears that this
practice, though rare, does exist at least in Azure:

This issue has always been there so the fix may be backported to all
versions. It will need the following commit in order to work as expected:

    MINOR: tools: make url2ipv4 return the exact number of bytes parsed

61cfdf4fd8 CLEANUP: tree-wide: replace free(x);x=NULL with ha_free(&x)
This makes the code more readable and less prone to copy-paste errors.
In addition, it allows to place some __builtin_constant_p() predicates
to trigger a link-time error in case the compiler knows that the freed
area is constant. It will also produce compile-time error if trying to
free something that is not a regular pointer (e.g. a function).

The DEBUG_MEM_STATS macro now also defines an instance for ha_free()
so that all these calls can be checked.

178 occurrences were converted. The vast majority of them were handled
by the following Coccinelle script, some slightly refined to better deal
with "&*x" or with long lines:

It was verified that the resulting code is the same, more or less a
handful of cases where the compiler optimized slightly differently
the temporary variable that holds the copy of the pointer.

A non-negligible amount of {free(str);str=NULL;str_len=0;} are still
present in the config part (mostly header names in proxies). These
ones should also be cleaned for the same reasons, and probably be
turned into ist strings.

The list is always defined by definition. Thus there is no reason to test
it. There is also plenty of checks on arguments types while it is already
validated during the configuration parsing. But one thing at a time.

This patch should fix the issue #1087.

d1ac2b90cd MAJOR: htx: Remove the EOM block type and use HTX_FL_EOM instead
The EOM block may be removed. The HTX_FL_EOM flags is enough. Most of time,
to know if the end of the message is reached, we just need to have an empty
HTX message with HTX_FL_EOM flag set. It may also be detected when the last
block of a message with HTX_FL_EOM flag is manipulated.

Removing EOM blocks simplifies the HTX message filling. Indeed, there is no
more edge problems when the message ends but there is no more space to write
the EOM block. However, some part are more tricky. Especially the
compression filter or the FCGI mux. The compression filter must finish the
compression on the last DATA block. Before it was performed on the EOM
block, an extra DATA block with the checksum was added. Now, we must detect
the last DATA block to be sure to finish the compression. The FCGI mux on
its part must be sure to reserve the space for the empty STDIN record on the
last DATA block while this record was inserted on the EOM block.

The H2 multiplexer is probably the part that benefits the most from this
change. Indeed, it is now fairly easier to known when to set the ES flag.

The HTX documentaion has been updated accordingly.

a9ffc41637 BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Fix smp_fetch_body() when called from a health-check
res.body may be called from a health-check. It is probably never used. But it is
possibe. In such case, there is no channel. Thus we must not use it
unconditionally to set the flag SMP_F_MAY_CHANGE on the smp.

Now the condition test the channel first. In addtion, the flag is not set if the
payload is fully received.

This patch must be backported as far as 2.2.

req.cook, req.cook_val, req.cook_cnt and and their response counterparts may be
called without cookie name. In this case, empty parentheses may be used, or no
parentheses at all. In both, the result must be the same. But only the first one
works. The second one always returns a failure. This patch fixes this bug.

Note that on old versions (< 2.2), both cases fail.

This patch must be backported in all stable versions.

dea7c209f8 BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Extract cookie value even when no cookie name
HTTP sample fetches dealing with the cookies (req/res.cook,
req/res.cook_val and req/res.cook_cnt) must be prepared to be called
without cookie name. For the first two, the first cookie value is
returned, regardless its name. For the last one, all cookies are counted.

To do so, http_extract_cookie_value() may now be called with no cookie
name (cookie_name_l set to 0). In this case, the matching on the cookie
name is ignored and the first value found is returned.

Note this patch also fixes matching on cookie values in ACLs.

This should be backported in all stable versions.

d2414a23c4 BUG/MINOR: http-fetch: Don't set the sample type during the htx prefetch
A subtle bug was introduced by the commit a6d9879e6 ("BUG/MEDIUM: htx:
smp_prefetch_htx() must always validate the direction"), for the "method"
sample fetch only. The sample data type and the method id are always
overwritten because smp_prefetch_htx() function is called later in the
sample fetch evaluation. The bug is in the smp_prefetch_htx() function but
it is only visible for the "method" sample fetch, for an unknown method.

In fact, when smp_prefetch_htx() is called, the sample object is
altered. The data type is set to SMP_T_BOOL and, on success, the data value
is set to 1.  Thus, if the caller has already set some infos into the sample
object, they may be lost. AFAIK, there is no reason to do so. It is
inherited from the legacy HTTP code and I honestely don't known why it was
done this way. So, instead of fixing the "method" sample fetch to set useful
info after the call to smp_prefetch_htx() function, I prefer to not alter
the sample object in smp_prefetch_htx().

This patch must be backported as far as 2.0. On the 2.0, only the HTX part
must be fixed.

e720c32b78 MINOR: http-fetch: Add pathq sample fetch
The pathq sample fetch extract the relative URI of a request, i.e the path with
the query-string, excluding the scheme and the authority, if any. It is pretty
handy to always get a relative URI independently on the HTTP version. Indeed,
while relative URIs are common in HTTP/1.1, in HTTP/2, most of time clients use
absolute URIs.

This patch may be backported to 2.2.
