30019d8698 feat(cpufeat): add feature detection for FEAT_CSV2_3
This feature provides support to context save the
SCXTNUM_ELx register. FEAT_CSV2_3 implies the implementation
of FEAT_CSV2_2. FEAT_CSV2_3 is supported in AArch64 state only
and is an optional feature in Arm v8.0 implementations.

This patch adds feature detection for v8.9 feature FEAT_CSV2_3,
adds macros for ID_AA64PFR0_EL1.CSV2 bits [59:56] for detecting
FEAT_CSV2_3 and macro for ENABLE_FEAT_CSV2_3.

641571c728 docs(cpufeat): clarify description of FEATURE_DETECTION macro
The current documentation of the FEATURE_DETECTION build option seems
to suggest that this macro enables the dynamic runtime checking of
features, although this is done regardless of this debug feature.
FEATURE_DETECTION just adds the detect_arch_features() function to the
build and calls it early on, plus it enables the CPU errata order
checking.

Simplify the description of the FEATURE_DETECTION macro to make this
clear, and move the dynamic feature detection description into a
separate section, before all the specific ENABLE_FEAT_xxx explanations.

This also renames all mentioning of:
"... to align with the FEATURE_DETECTIION mechanism ..."
with:
"... to align with the ENABLE_FEAT mechanism ..."
in the description of each feature.

0a33adc058 refactor(mte): deprecate CTX_INCLUDE_MTE_REGS
Currently CTX_INCLUDE_MTE_REGS is used for dual purpose,
to enable allocation tags register and to context save and restore
them and also to check if mte feature is available.

To make it more meaningful, remove CTX_INCLUDE_MTE_REGS
and introduce FEAT_MTE. This would enable allocation tags register
when FEAT_MTE is enabled and also supported from platform.

Also arch features can be conditionally enabled disabled based on
arch version from `make_helpers/arch_features.mk`

878354a845 refactor(rss)!: remove PLAT_RSS_NOT_SUPPORTED build option
Removed the PLAT_RSS_NOT_SUPPORTED build option, which was initially
introduced for building the Base AEM FVP platform platform with RSS.
However, we now have a well-defined TC2 platform with RSS, making it
unnecessary to keep this flag.

Note -
Theoretically this is a breaking change. Other platforms could be
using the PLAT_RSS_NOT_SUPPORTED build option. Among upstream platforms,
only the Base AEM FVP uses it right now but we don't know about
downstream platforms.

b65dfe40ae chore(auth)!: remove CryptoCell-712/713 support
CryptoCell-712 and CryptoCell-713 drivers have been deprecated since
TF-A v2.9 and their removal was announced for TF-A v2.10 release.
See [1].

As the release is approaching, this patch deletes these drivers' code as
well as all references to them in the documentation and Arm platforms
code (Nuvoton platform is taken care in a subsequent patch). Associated
build options (ARM_CRYPTOCELL_INTEG and PLAT_CRYPTOCELL_BASE) have also
been removed and thus will have no effect if defined.

This is a breaking change for downstream platforms which use these
drivers.

f87e54f73c fix(ras): remove RAS_FFH_SUPPORT and introduce FFH_SUPPORT
This patch removes RAS_FFH_SUPPORT macro which is the combination of
ENABLE_FEAT_RAS and HANDLE_EA_EL3_FIRST_NS. Instead introduce an
internal macro FFH_SUPPORT which gets enabled when platforms wants
to enable lower EL EA handling at EL3. The internal macro FFH_SUPPORT
will be automatically enabled if HANDLE_EA_EL3_FIRST_NS is enabled.
FFH_SUPPORT along with ENABLE_FEAT_RAS will be used in source files
to provide equivalent check which was provided by RAS_FFH_SUPPORT
earlier. In generic code we needed a macro which could abstract both
HANDLE_EA_EL3_FIRST_NS and RAS_FFH_SUPPORT macros that had limitations.
Former was tied up with NS world only while the latter was tied to RAS
feature.

This is to allow Secure/Realm world to have their own FFH macros
in future.

85bebe18da refactor(console): disable getc() by default
The ability to read a character from the console constitutes an attack
vector into TF-A, as it gives attackers a means to inject arbitrary
data into TF-A. It is dangerous to keep that feature enabled if not
strictly necessary, especially in production firmware builds.

Thus, we need a way to disable this feature. Moreover, when it is
disabled, all related code should be eliminated from the firmware
binaries, such that no remnant/dead getc() code remains in memory,
which could otherwise be used as a gadget as part of a bigger security
attack.

This patch disables getc() feature by default. For legitimate getc()
use cases [1], it can be explicitly enabled by building TF-A with
ENABLE_CONSOLE_GETC=1.

The following changes are introduced when getc() is disabled:

- The multi-console framework no longer provides the console_getc()
  function.

- If the console driver selected by the platform attempts to register
a getc() callback into the multi-console framework then TF-A will
  now fail to build.

If registered through the assembly function finish_console_register():
  - On AArch64, you'll get:
Error: undefined symbol CONSOLE_T_GETC used as an immediate value.
  - On AArch32, you'll get:
Error: internal_relocation (type: OFFSET_IMM) not fixed up

If registered through the C function console_register(), this requires
populating a struct console with a getc field, which will trigger:
error: 'console_t' {aka 'struct console'} has no member named 'getc'

- All console drivers which previously registered a getc() callback
have been modified to do so only when ENABLE_CONSOLE_GETC=1.

[1] Example of such use cases would be:
    - Firmware recovery: retrieving a golden BL2 image over the console in
order to repair a broken firmware on a bricked board.
    - Factory CLI tool: Drive some soak tests through the console.

Discussed on TF-A mailing list here:

616b3ce27d feat(cert-create): add pkcs11 engine support
Add pkcs11 engine support which allows using keys that are securely

compatible.

This change makes use of the openssl engine API which is deprecated

pkcs11 support will have to be updated to the openssl provider API
in the near future.

83a4dae1af refactor(pmu): convert FEAT_MTPMU to C and move to persistent register init
The FEAT_MTPMU feature disable runs very early after reset. This means,
it needs to be written in assembly, since the C runtime has not been
initialised yet.

However, there is no need for it to be initialised so soon. The PMU
state is only relevant after TF-A has relinquished control. The code
to do this is also very verbose and difficult to read. Delaying the
initialisation allows for it to happen with the rest of the PMU. Align
with FEAT_STATE in the process.

f43e09a12e fix(cpus): reduce generic_errata_report()'s size
For a pretty implementation and straightforward code, the CVE/erratum
dispatching of the errata status reporting was done with a macro,
closely following the old code. Unfortunately, this produces a function
that was over a kilobyte in size, which unsurprisingly doesn't fit on
some platforms.

Convert the macro to a proper C function and call it once. Also hide the
errata ordering checking behind the FEATURE_DETECTION flag to further
save space. This functionality is not necessary for most builds.
Development and platform bringup builds, which should find this
functionality useful, are expected to have FEATURE_DETECTION enabled.

This reduces the function to under 600 bytes.

9202d51990 refactor(ras): replace RAS_EXTENSION with FEAT_RAS
The current usage of RAS_EXTENSION in TF-A codebase is to cater for two
things in TF-A :
1. Pull in necessary framework and platform hooks for Firmware first
   handling(FFH) of RAS errors.
2. Manage the FEAT_RAS extension when switching the worlds.

FFH means that all the EAs from NS are trapped in EL3 first and signaled
to NS world later after the first handling is done in firmware. There is
an alternate way of handling RAS errors viz Kernel First handling(KFH).
Tying FEAT_RAS to RAS_EXTENSION build flag was not correct as the
feature is needed for proper handling KFH in as well.

This patch breaks down the RAS_EXTENSION flag into a flag to denote the
CPU architecture `ENABLE_FEAT_RAS` which is used in context management
during world switch and another flag `RAS_FFH_SUPPORT` to pull in
required framework and platform hooks for FFH.

Proper support for KFH will be added in future patches.

BREAKING CHANGE: The previous RAS_EXTENSION is now deprecated. The
equivalent functionality can be achieved by the following
2 options:
 - ENABLE_FEAT_RAS
 - RAS_FFH_SUPPORT

0d1229473e refactor(cm): make SVE and SME build dependencies logical
Currently, enabling SME forces SVE off. However, the SME enablement
requires SVE to be enabled, which is reflected in code. This is the
opposite of what the build flags require.

Further, the few platforms that enable SME also explicitly enable SVE.
Their platform.mk runs after the defaults.mk file so this override never
materializes. As a result, the override is only present on the
commandline.

Change it to something sensible where if SME is on then code can rely on
SVE being on too. Do this with a check in the Makefile as it is the more
widely used pattern. This maintains all valid use cases but subtly
changes corner cases no one uses at the moment to require a slightly
different combination of flags.

03d3c0d729 feat(sme): enable SME2 functionality for NS world
FEAT_SME2 is an extension of FEAT_SME and an optional feature
from v9.2. Its an extension of SME, wherein it not only
processes matrix operations efficiently, but also provides
outer-product instructions to accelerate matrix operations.
It affords instructions for multi-vector operations.
Further, it adds an 512 bit architectural register ZT0.

This patch implements all the changes introduced with FEAT_SME2
to ensure that the instructions are allowed to access ZT0
register from Non-secure lower exception levels.

Additionally, it adds support to ensure FEAT_SME2 is aligned
with the existing FEATURE DETECTION mechanism, and documented.

793f72c06c feat: add support for poetry
New python dependencies are introduced by the memory mapping script.
Rather than add another `requirements.txt` utilise poetry. This is a
proper dependency management framework for Python. The two main upsides
of using poetry instead of the traditional requirements.txt are
maintainability and reproducibility.

Poetry provides a proper lock file for pinning dependencies, similar to
npm for JavaScript. This allows for separate environments (i.e. docs,
tools) to be created efficiently, and in a reproducible manner, wherever
the project is deployed. Having dependencies pinned in this manner is a
boon as a security focused project. An additional upside is that we will
receive security updates for dependencies via GitHub's Dependabot.

062b6c6bf2 feat(pie/por): support permission indirection and overlay
Arm v8.9 introduces a series of features providing a new way to set memory
permissions. Instead of directly encoding the permissions in the page
tables the PTEs contain indexes into an array of permissions stored in
system registers, allowing greater flexibility and density of encoding.

Enable access to these features for EL2 and below, context switching the
newly added EL2 registers as appropriate. Since all of FEAT_S[12]P[IO]E
are separately discoverable we have separate build time options for
enabling them, but note that there is overlap in the registers that they
implement and the enable bit required for lower EL access.

the right decision can be made by the code at runtime.

The porting guide is currently hosted under the 'Getting started'

not the first thing that one would do. Before delving into the

Furthermore, the porting guide is such a big and important document

Thus, move it just above the list of supported platforms.

d23acc9e4f refactor(amu): unify ENABLE_AMU and ENABLE_FEAT_AMUv1
So far we have the ENABLE_AMU build option to include AMU register
handling code for enabling and context switch. There is also an
ENABLE_FEAT_AMUv1 option, solely to protect the HAFGRTR_EL2 system

scheme, but it conceptually overlaps with the ENABLE_AMU option.

Since there is no real need for two separate options, unify both into a
new ENABLE_FEAT_AMU name in a first step. This is mostly just renaming at
this point, a subsequent patch will make use of the new feature handling
scheme.

606b743007 feat(psci): add support for OS-initiated mode
This patch adds a `psci_validate_state_coordination` function that is
called by `psci_cpu_suspend_start` in OS-initiated mode.

This function validates the request per sections 4.2.3.2, 5.4.5, and 6.3
of the PSCI spec (DEN0022D.b):
- The requested power states are consistent with the system's state
- The calling core is the last running core at the requested power level

This function differs from `psci_do_state_coordination` in that:
- The `psci_req_local_pwr_states` map is not modified if the request
  were to be denied
- The `state_info` argument is never modified since it contains the
power states requested by the calling OS

This is conditionally compiled into the build depending on the value of
the `PSCI_OS_INIT_MODE` build option.

90118bb5c1 refactor(cpufeat): rename ENABLE_SPE_FOR_LOWER_ELS to ENABLE_SPE_FOR_NS
At the moment we hardcode the SPE functionality to be available on the
non-secure side only, by setting MDCR_EL2.E2PB accordingly.

This should be reflected in the feature selection symbol, so rename that
to ENABLE_SPE_FOR_NS, to make it clearer that SPE is not supported in
the secure world.

d333160366 feat(tcr2): support FEAT_TCR2
Arm v8.9 introduces FEAT_TCR2, adding extended translation control
registers. Support this, context switching TCR2_EL2 and disabling
traps so lower ELs can access the new registers.

Change the FVP platform to default to handling this as a dynamic option so
the right decision can be made by the code at runtime.

42d4d3baac refactor(build): distinguish BL2 as TF-A entry point and BL2 running at EL3
BL2_AT_EL3 is an overloaded macro which has two uses:
	1. When BL2 is entry point into TF-A(no BL1)
	2. When BL2 is running at EL3 exception level
These two scenarios are not exactly same even though first implicitly
means second to be true. To distinguish between these two use cases we
introduce new macros.
BL2_AT_EL3 is renamed to RESET_TO_BL2 to better convey both 1. and 2.
Additional macro BL2_RUNS_AT_EL3 is added to cover all scenarious where
BL2 runs at EL3 (including four world systems).

BREAKING CHANGE: BL2_AT_EL3 renamed to RESET_TO_BL2 across the
repository.

8a66597385 docs: discourage usage of weak functions
As a coding guideline, we now discourage introducing new weak
functions in platform-agnostic code going forward and provide the
rationale for this.

This was already enforced most of the time in code reviews but this
patch makes it explicit in the project's documentation.

17d07a552b refactor(bl31): use elx_panic for sysreg_handler64
When we reach sysreg_handler64 from any trap handling we are entering
this path from lower EL and thus we should be calling lower_el_panic
reporting mechanism to print panic report.

Make report_elx_panic available through assembly func elx_panic which
could be used for reporting any lower_el_panic.

bd62ce98d2 refactor(aarch64): rename do_panic and el3_panic
Current panic call invokes do_panic which calls el3_panic, but now panic
handles only panic from EL3 anid clear separation to use lower_el_panic()
which handles panic from lower ELs.

So now we can remove do_panic and just call el3_panic for all panics.

da04341ed5 build: always prefix section names with .
Some of our specialized sections are not prefixed with the conventional
period. The compiler uses input section names to derive certain other
section names (e.g. `.rela.text`, `.relacpu_ops`), and these can be
difficult to select in linker scripts when there is a lack of a
delimiter.

This change introduces the period prefix to all specialized section
names.

BREAKING-CHANGE: All input and output linker section names have been
 prefixed with the period character, e.g. `cpu_ops` -> `.cpu_ops`.

415195c03e fix(docs): make required compiler version == rather than >=
TF-A carries its own compiler-rt so higher versions of the compilers may
not necessarily work. Because TF-A is only tested on the specified
versions in the CI, any breakage remains unknown. Update the
prerequisites guide to make it more apparent that this is the case.

1ae75529bc feat(fvp): emulate trapped RNDR
When a platform decides to use FEAT_RNG_TRAP, every RNDR or RNDRSS read
will trap into EL3. The platform can then emulate those instructions, by
either executing the real CPU instructions, potentially conditioning the
results, or use rate-limiting or filtering to protect the hardware
entropy pool. Another possiblitiy would be to use some platform specific
TRNG device to get entropy and returning this.

To demonstrate platform specific usage, add a demo implementation for the
FVP: It will execute the actual CPU instruction and just return the
result. This should serve as reference code to implement platform specific
policies.

We change the definition of read_rndr() and read_rndrrs() to use the
alternative sysreg encoding, so that all assemblers can handle that.

Add documentation about the new platform specific RNG handler function.
